Kenya Re now seeks to recruit and fill the following position for its head office in Nairobi, Kenya:- 

1. ASSISTANT MANAGER, ACTUARIAL- KRC/HR/2021/07 

The Assistant Manager Actuarial department will assist the Actuary in ensuring that the Corporation has an effective actuarial function capable of evaluating and providing advise to the Corporation regarding capital adequacy, technical provisions, premium levels, pricing activities as well as compliance with related statutory and regulatory requirements. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the Manager in preparing management reports as directed by Manager.

• Representing the Manager in meetings with Management when manager is not available.

• Assisting the manager in providing ongoing technical and analytical support to pricing and underwriting department

• Assisting in actuarial and risk analyses used to develop pricing for new and existing products in line with managements and corporation's objectives

• Assisting manager in independent Actuarial/underwriting projects • Assist in the gathering and preparation of analysis based on information from internal and external sources

• Utilize knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to solve problems in insurance.

• Assist in the research on functional issues using a variety of resources. Help in developing/preparing reports and development of new/revised policies/guidelines

• Assist in Interpretation of government regulations and internal policies. Participates in preparation of documentation related to government filings/licensing

• Assist In preparing recommendations based on data summaries. trend analysis. financial analysis. and business analysis

• Assist in analysis of data, construction of probability tables to forecast risk and liability to assist in decision making

• Help in ascertaining of premium rates and accurate cash revenues to assist in accurate decision making

• Assisting in providing underwriting analysis for pricing and risk assessment selections including financial business and trend analysis of data critical for decision making in achievement of business objectives

• Participate in cross-functional teams to develop new/enhanced systems/processes/programs/policies to support business needs

• Training both internal and external to the clients

THE PERSON

• Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Sciences, Statistics. Mathematics or Its equivalent. They should be holders of a minimum of 7 actuarial papers. A post graduate diploma in actuarial science/ACII will be an added advantage. • Applicants should have six years' experience, two of which must have been in a management position. In addition they should have excellent Interpersonal and communication skills, good organization and management skills, advanced skills In mathematics and statistics. They should be team players and have strong leadership skill.
