Our client in the Automotive industry is seeking to recruit a Workshop Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for effectively managing the service and body shop workshops by the achievement of sales growth and profit targets. He/she must have at least 5 years’ experience working in the same position in Automotive.

Key Responsibilities:
• Planning and implementation of business processes to ensure continued growth and profitability at or above budgeted levels for service and body shop.
• Prepare annual budgets for sales, gross profits, operating costs, and trading profits.
• Prepare and submit an annual budget for capital expenditure for each workshop.
• Day to day management of the Mechanical workshop and body shop through their line managers by leadership, encouragement, example, and training.
• Daily, weekly, and monthly guidance of service and body shop on actual performance against budget.
• Review weekly the work in progress reports with the supervisors to ensure that appropriate action is taken to enable rapid completion of outstanding work.
• Ensure new business development for the company through the implementation of sales strategies and sales initiatives.
• Protect and develop the existing customer base through continuous relationship building and customer satisfaction initiatives.
• Review and discuss with each workshop supervisor, the workshop productivity report
• Give technical advice and assistance to all workshop staff when required to do so and prepare monthly workshop technical reports.
• Ensure that technical information received from time to time, from Dealer principal, is distributed to each Workshop Supervisor, as appropriate, and to all Dealer Principals and Dealer Workshop Managers.
• Liaise with Dealer Principles and Workshop Managers to ensure that their technical expertise, availability of special tools and facilities, constantly meets the minimum standards laid down by the Company.
• In conjunction with individual workshop supervisors, develop individual training programmes to maintain high levels of technical expertise, within each of the workshop.
• Management of Workshop monthly debtors by taking appropriate action to recover all outstanding debts.
• Handle customer complaints on quality of work or workshop performance and seek solutions which satisfy the customer.
• Build and maintain customer relationships at the higher operational level.
• Ensure through the diligent use of quality checks, that only work of the highest standard is delivered at the promised time to customers.
• Through training on quality standards, encourage all workshop personnel to adopt the principal of “Right first time”.
• Ensure customers receive prompt, efficient and courteous attention for all contacts and transactions.
• Keep up to date with product range, developments, and competitor activities.
• Ensure compliance to EHS legislation requirement.
• Ensure that company policies, procedures, (in compliance with Legislation) are implemented and always followed by the department.
• Maintain positive employee relations and morale whenever possible through a workplace that is fair, open, honest, and objective.
• Practice sound leadership and human relations principles to always promote teamwork.
• Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.
• Resolve employee relations problems, complaints, suggestions, etc.
• Carry out an annual assessment of individual performance of all workshop supervisors.
• Effective administration of warranty issues.
• Control the number of repeat jobs through constant coaching and guiding of the team.

Qualifications:
• Must have a relevant bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Must have at least 5 years’ experience working in a similar position.
• Must be Proficient in Motor Vehicles service/repairs and operations.
• Must have Proficiency and knowledge in workshop operations.
• Must be computer literate.
• Must be customer-oriented.
