Job Description

POSITION: SOCIAL PROTECTION/COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC APPROACHES OFFICER
LOCATION: MIGORI
REPORTS TO: DREAMS LEAD
PROGRAM: ENTRENCH

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

The Combined Social Economic Approaches (CSEA) Officer will be responsible for implementing strategies to build resilience of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) through equipping them with economic strengthening skills and opportunities, proven successful in reducing HIV risk behaviors, HIV transmission, and sexual and gender-based violence. These include gender specific training on financial literacy, job readiness skills, entrepreneurial skills, and linkage to opportunities in the communities for social and economic empowerment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead the development of standard operating procedures and strategies to guide and structure the provision of CSEA interventions.
• Spearhead the training and mentorship of project staff on the recommended guidelines on CSEA in the DREAMS program.
• Conduct site-level support supervision and mentorship to ensure CSEA interventions are being implemented according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and in a quality manner.
• Leverage of existing resources, linkages, and referrals for other essential services to AGYW receive comprehensive packages of services.
• Mobilize multi-stakeholder development and private sector partners for apprenticeship, paid internship, job placement, business mentorship and coaching among others.
• Support linkage of AGYW for internships and/or gainful employment.
• Enhance access of AGYW to economic strengthening support and training in financial capability and entrepreneurship.
• Ensure equitable access to education subsidy and combined socio-economic approaches by working closely with multistakeholder community advisory team to prioritize AGYW for education subsidy and comprehensive economic support.
• Identify community and community resources and strengthen linkages with this, including vocational institutions on an ongoing basis on service delivery.
• Identify and link AGYW to quality learning institutions as appropriate e.g., those registered with TVETS and other examining bodies.
• Provide regular follow-up and supervisory support to supported facilities/sites and community structures on supported activities.
• Support routine documentation, monitoring and evaluation data of supported activities by the program and make recommendations for program improvement.
• Build the capacity of affiliated partner organizations and groups such as local school faculty, civil society organizations (CSO), community-based organizations (CBO), local government entities and engaged lay workers on CSEA.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Entrepreneurship, Developmental Sciences, or related field
• Demonstrated capacity in apprenticeship, business mentorship and working with young people is an added advantage
• At least 3-5 years’ project management experience in coordination, implementation, and monitoring of youth economic strengthening programs and/or DREAMS
• Experiences in coordinating small, medium, and micro enterprises
• Training in HIV prevention and other related trainings
• Strong interpersonal and coordination skills
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team leader and player
