Job Description

Reporting to Senior Pharmacist, the successful applicants will be responsible for
planning, simulating and carrying out dosimetry for the hospital’s patients to ensure
quality treatment in line with established protocols and the Hospital’s patient care
objectives.

Role and Responsibilities
• Compliance with professional and legal practice and standard operating
procedures.
• Participating in sterile compounding
• Conducting medication therapy review at outpatient clinics and for inpatients.
• Participating in ward rounds and inspect medication storage areas in clinical
departments.
• Undertaking medication reconciliation during patient admission and discharge.
• Escalating and following up to conclusion all issues requiring attention such as
such as customer complaints, medication errors and stock issues.
• Participating in the formulation and implementation of hospital policies on drug
use and pharmacy standard operating procedures.
• Assisting the Senior Pharmacist in the training, induction, mentorship, and
competency testing of new Pharmacy staff and interns.
• Participating in staff supervisory roles as shift in-charges and team leaders include
scheduling of personnel and supervision to support staff such as cashiers, cleaners
and porters seconded to the department.
• Preparation and submission of pharmacy unit management reports.
• To provide information and education on drugs and medication therapy to health
professional staff and patients
• To participate in hospital wide training and educational programs involving
nurses, doctors etc.
• Conduct operational and clinical research.
• Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor
from time to time.

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
• Must be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya and hold a valid
practicing license.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in pharmacy preferably in a hospital environment.
