Salary Scale: Kshs. 56,370 x 2750 – 59,120 x 2,850 – 62,040 x 2,950 – 65,120 x 3,440 –
68,560 x 3,590 – 72,150 x 3,790 – 75,940 x 3,890 – 79,740 x 3,810 – 83,550 p.m.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will include: quantifying drugs/medicines as per
requirements; assessing drug requirements based on disease patters and emergency outbreaks;
ensuring manufactured products conform to the Pharmacopeia specifications for
quality assurance; ensuring implementation of decisions of drug/medicine and
therapeutic committees; coordinating development and implementation training
programmes for continuous professional development(CPD) for staff and other
stakeholders; supervising and assessing students/ interns; maintaining up-to-date
records pertaining to drug/ medicine transactions; preparing drug consumption reports;
coordinating setting targets, preparing work plans and budget; and coaching and
mentoring of staff.
Requirements for appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
i. Served in the grade of Chief Pharmaceutical Technologist for at least three(3)
years;
ii. Diploma in either Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Technologist or equivalent
qualification approved by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board from a recognized
institution;
iii. Certificate of enrollment as Pharmaceutical Technologist awarded by Pharmacy
and Poisons Board(PBB);
iv. Certificate in Management Course lasting not less than four(4) weeks from a
recognized institution;
v. Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution; and
vi. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
