Job Description

In pursuit of being a Centre of Excellence in Teaching, Research and Community Service, MKU invites applications from suitably qualified, visionary, competent, dynamic and experienced professionals with the following qualifications:

Qualifications (Education, Skills and Experience)
1. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Management or Marketing.
2. 5 years’ relevant experience
3. Knowledge of bookstore retail operating principles, cashiering, budgeting, management principles, inventory, and accounting.
4. Effective planner and problem solver, neat and well-organized, friendly and approachable.

Duties and responsibilities
1. Planning, organizing and managing bookstore activities.
2. Developing and implementing the store’s operating procedures, as well as recommending appropriate related policies.
3. In charge of preparing and managing yearly bookstore budgets by managing and maintaining the bookstore accounting records, and hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating personnel.
4. Supervise staff in accounting functions and ordering books, supplies, and related merchandise, arrange advertising materials.
5. Oversee the planning, supervision, and maintenance of stock and inventory.
6. Prepare a variety of reports and correspondences, resolve client issues associated with merchandise;
7. Bookstore managers will oversee the receipt and transfer of cash receipts to the proper office; decide in pricing merchandise; and ensure the store is profitable by increasing sales and keeping costs low.
8. Preparation and submission of daily, Monthly and quarterly reports on bookshop operations and finances.
9. Report to the Director Institution Planning and Administration.
10. Secretary to the Bookstore Management Committee.
11. Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor
