Job Requirements
i. Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Aquatic Sciences, Food science and technology, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Physical Sciences, Aquaculture any other equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution. Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Aquatic Sciences, Food science and technology, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Physical Sciences any other equivalent, Bachelor of Science in Aquaculture and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.

ii. Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) Course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution. b) Have shown merit in managing fisheries resources.

iii. Eight(8)years of working experience, two(2)years in a managerial position in a relevant field.

Job Description
i. This position is responsible for deputizing the Director of fisheries and in charge of a section in the Department. Responsible for coordinating and overseeing fisheries function in the county through development and implementation of fisheries policies and review of existing policies and strategies.
ii. Spearhead the development of species specific management plans. b) Coordinating the implementation of the Fisheries function c) Participating in developing standard operating procedures for fish, fishery products and fish feeds d) Manage the fisheries data bank. e) Foster fisheries development and fishers and other stakeholders.
iii. Promoting sustainable development, management, utilization and conservation of the fresh water fisheries resources
iv. Coordinating the inspection of fish processing establishments, fish markets, fish shops, fish seed production and fish feed production centers to ensure conformance to set standards.
v. Receiving and auctioning data/reports from Sub-county fisheries officers
vi. Coordinating enforcement of fisheries management measures
vii. Facilitating development of aquaculture extension approaches and methodologies.
viii. Promoting utilization of fisheries resources.
ix. Facilitating the provision of fisheries related infrastructure facilities.
x. Coordination of fisheries extension services
xi. Coordinating and promoting recreational fisheries ecotourism and related activities.
xii. Promoting cooperation among fisheries stakeholders
xiii. Undertaking monitoring and evaluation of Departmental projects and programmes
xiv. Initiate and Implementing fisheries policies, programmes and strategies
xv. Coordinating capacity building on fish handling
xvi. Facilitating development of aquaculture extension approaches and methodologies
xvii. Compiling annual, quarterly and monthly reports on fisheries activities
xviii. Assisting to develop and monitor the operational work plan and related department budgets to ensure that costs are maintained within approved budgets.
xix. Strategic – Deputizing the director in developing and aligning decisions to policies
xx. Financial - Deputizing the director in resource control and planning
xxi. Analytical – Deputizing director in analytical decision making
xxii. Operational – overseeing the running of the fisheries function.
