health services provision to harmonize the various companies & facilities existing across the

Nyamira, Migori, Homa Bay, Siaya, Uasin-Gishu, Kitui, Nairobi, Kakamega, Bungoma and
Busia
We are currently looking for a qualified and dedicated candidate to fill the following position;
JOB TITLE: OPHTHALMOLOGY NURSE
LOCATION: SIAYA
Overall Responsibility
The ophthalmic nurse will evaluate, diagnose, treat, and discharge patients with ocular conditions
and diseases/disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage patients with ocular conditions referred from general practitioners and primary
healthcare units.
2. Perform initial screening, monitor disease progression, and assist with early treatment of
chronic ocular conditions.
3. Perform primary, follow-up, and discharge assessments of patients who have undergone
surgery for cataracts and other ocular diseases/disorders.
4. Assist in managing children and adults with ocular conditions, functioning as both an
educator and a practitioner.
5. Assisting the Surgeons in performing ophthalmic surgeries.
6. Carry out patient assessments before and after eye surgery
7. Assist the opticians in conducting fittings for glasses and contact lenses
8. Instruct patients how to properly care for eye injuries or disorders at home
9. Administer optical medications.
Job Requirements & Skills
1. Diploma or Degree in Nursing
2. Higher Diploma in Ophthalmic Nursing
3. Must be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya
4. At least one year’s experience working in a similar position.
