Job Description

REF: TUR/CPSB/022/2022/2023; DEPUTY DIRECTOR GENDER AFFAIRS, JOB
GROUP “Q”, POSITION: ONE (1)

Duties and responsibilities
a) Implementing policy and legislation framework for gender development in the county
Management
b) Planning, coordination and administration of gender service in the county
c) Integrating gender programs, capacity building of communities to participate in
development project and involve women and vulnerable groups and activities that promote
their welfare;
d) Coordinating the monitoring of the thirty percent affirmative action on gender
representation and in socio economic development
e) Coordinating and monitoring the promotion of awareness on harmful culture practice such
as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Gender Based Violence (GBV)
f) Planning and implementing programs related to gender development affairs
g) Maintaining records and lists of all gender and marginalized groups related activities within
the county
h) Promoting community participation and inter-county gender related activities.
i) Formulating budget proposals and expenditure controls
j) Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Requirement for appointment
For appointment in this grade, a candidate must have: -
a) Served in the position of Assistant Director, Gender or equivalent position in the public
service or private sector for a minimum period of three (3) years;

b) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Gender Studies, Gender and
Development, Sociology, Business Administration (Finance/Entrepreneurship),
Anthropology, Counselling and Psychology, Economics, Law or any other relevant Social
Science from a university recognized institution;
c) Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Gender and Development, Business
Administration, Project Development and Management, Anthropology, Counselling,
Project Planning and Management will be an added advantage
d) Demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence on matters relating
to gender and social development.
e) Attended a Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than Six (6)
weeks or its equivalent from a recognized institution
f) Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
