MANAGER – TRADE MARKS – GRADE KP ‘3’ (REF. NO. KIPI/ADM/HR/TM/2021/(1)
ONE (1) POSITION

Basic Salary Scale: Ksh. 133,500.00 p.m. – Ksh. 247,700 p.m.
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
House Allowance: Ksh. 60,000.00 p.m.
Commuter Allowance: Ksh. 20,000.00 p.m.
Medical cover: As per KIPI’s Medical Policy
Leave Allowance: As per KIPI Human Resource Manual
Annual Leave: 30 days per financial year
The Manager – Trade Marks shall be responsible to the Deputy Managing Director, Technical Services.

(a) Duties and responsibilities
i. Formulating and implementing Trade Mark Division’s operational policies, plans,
procedures and rules;
ii. Setting and ensuring achievement of performance targets in the Division;
iii. Monitoring, evaluating and controlling performance of the Division;
iv. Undertaking training needs for staff in the Division and submitting to the Human
Resource Advisory Committee for consideration;
v. Supervising, appraising and developing staff of the Division;
vi. Overseeing compilation and dissemination of industrial property rights information;
vii. Recommending amendments and reviews to the Trade Marks Act and Rules, Trade Mark Manual and Geographical Indication Act where appropriate in consultation with the
Legal Services Division;
viii. Supervising preparation of certificates;
ix. Facilitating research in the field of industrial property in consultation with the
Research, Innovation and Industrial Property Information Division;
x. Managing performance targets; and
xi. Any other duty that may be assigned.

(b) Requirements for appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
i. A Master’s Degree in Science, Law, Economics, Commerce, Intellectual Property or
equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
ii. A Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Law, Economics, Commerce, Intellectual
Property or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
iii. Satisfactorily served as Assistant Manager Trade Mark in the Institute or a comparable
position with similar responsibilities for a minimum period of three (3) years;
iv. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the field of industrial property rights; and
v. Computer competency.
