Position : Endoscopy Nurse

Job Objective/Purpose
Provide safe and high-quality endoscopy services in line with the hospital policies and procedures.
• Key Responsibilities
1. Performs endoscopy procedures with endoscopists.
2. Considering the age-specific physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of the patient.
3. Perform pre-procedure assessment reviewing patient history and physical examination.
4. Formulate a nursing care plan to address patient care goals and ensure an excellent outcome.
5. Coordinate planned nursing care with other healthcare team members.
6. Act as the team leader during endoscopy procedures
7. Prepare procedure room for the patient.
8. Perform a pre-procedure safety checklist to ensure patient safety.
9. Document patient care activities and outcomes as per policies and procedures.
10. Ensure continuity of patient care during the post procedure phase with an effective handover.
11. Develop promotions and publicity for the endoscopy services in collaboration with the marketing department.
12. Uses equipment and departmental resources appropriately.
a. Assists central scheduling with the accurate scheduling of patient appointments.
b. Covers on-call schedule as assigned following departmental procedures.
c. Maintains equipment, including cleaning and disinfecting according to departmental IPC procedures and processes.
d. Identify problems with equipment and notifies appropriate resources for diagnosis and repair and assist with evaluation of new equipment.
13. Ensure financial objectives of the Endoscopy Service are met by;
a. Managing costs within budget.
b. Timely and accurate billing.
c. Ensuring an invoice rejection rate of < 1% by enforcing exclusions, guaranteeing the necessary pre-authorizations and proper documentation and following through with the credit control team.
14. Patient satisfaction and confidentiality:
a. Ensure patient satisfaction through quality of care, communication, and collection of feedback from patients as determined in the KPI using the standardized patient satisfaction tools.
b. Always maintain client/patient privacy and confidentiality
15. Provide Monthly reports to the line manager and senior hospital management on the performance of the endoscopy Services.
Personal Specifications
1. BSc. Nursing or KRN, KRCHN
2. BLS and ACLS certification
3. Must have a valid practicing license from the Kenya Nursing council.
4. At least two years of experience in endoscopy procedures, including Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, ERCP and Bronchoscopy
5. Good Interpersonal and communication skills
