Job Description

Job Objective/Purpose
To manage medical services by providing leadership in patient care, maintaining standards of care, and directing and developing the staff, to ensure provision of highly professional medical and auxiliary services in Opd.

Key Responsibilities
1. People Management;
i) Liaise with the HM/HR to ensure optimal staff levels, including reallocation of staff per staffing needs, as well as efficient use of overtimes and locums.
ii) Regular staff engagement and monthly staff meetings with documented evidence of attendance

iii) Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, orientation & development of medical staff, including mentoring, coaching and developing the team.

iv) Reward, recognition and discipline; ensuring deserving staff are recognized, and liaise with HR on discipline without undue delay and per policy.

v) Ensure all the Doctors have valid practice licenses

2. Ensure the unit is financially viable and demonstrate growth through;

i) Ensuring quality of Care & Service hence ensuring high patient retention rates by achieving high patient satisfaction rates and NPS scores.

ii) Managing OPD costs within budget through appropriate staffing, timely and accurate billing, managing accidents/incidences, and consumables.

ii) Supporting all marketing events, and clinical support to Hospital, Rescue and Homecare when called upon to.

3. Actively participate in clinical quality initiatives including, morbidity and mortality meetings, maintaining and enforcing infection control standards, ensuring patients safety (IPSGs), Incident reporting, RCAs and QIPs.

4. Medical Services;

i) Initiate and maintain proper management and treatment of patients, ensure appropriate and early consultation and referral of patients to specialists, and undertake clinical procedures per training.

ii) Refer clients who require inpatient/home based care to the Avenue Hospitals for Inpatient care/ Avenue Homecare for home-based care and Avenue Rescue for medical transport needs.

iii) Collaborate with IPC Team to maintain and enforce infection control standards and observe the infection control bundles.

iv) Ensure all sentinel incidents/events are recorded and reported within 24 hours using the provided tools.

v) Review of medical reports and provision of patient updates to insurance companies when required.

vii) Take responsibility for ensuring maintenance of accurate records/ documentation for:patient notes and reviews, verifying the prescription, dosage, allergies, patient identification and right drug; legible prescriptions.



5. Ensure proper inventory and proper maintenance of all available equipment and other supplies (both medical & non-medical).

6. Prepare daily/ periodic statistics/ reports for the MSM/ HM

7. Ensure that Avenue Healthcare corporate governance policies are adhered to, including preventing, detecting, and reporting any fraud or criminal activities, and Implementing audit recommendations.

8. Ensure adequate knowledge of and compliance to all Avenue Healthcare policies, procedures, and systems, especially policies pertaining to the provision of medical services.

Personal Specifications
1. A medical degree and a valid KMPDC Licence
2. Updated BLS, ACLS/ATLS certificate
3. At least 5 years of management experience
4. Proven ability to enact policies and procedures
5. Customer focus and results oriented
6. Strong Interpersonal and communication skills
