Job Description

BURN is seeking a Legal Intern, who will be integral in contributing to BURN’s corporate expansion. They will ensure compliance with laws and advise cross-functional teams on legal issues and risks from the initial stages of clean energy product development to commercialization in key markets. They will assist in drafting and reviewing legal arrangements underpinning a variety of global carbon offset arrangements as well as assist in legal due diligence, drafting and review of a diverse range of debt and equity transactions. They will additionally assist in preparation of brand migration advice, registration and enforcement of the Company’s intellectual property including implementing strategic counterfeit initiatives in key markets. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent drafting skills and a fast learner. The ideal candidate will have commercial and legal advisory experience, legal research skills and good inter-personal skills.

Main Duties and Responsibilities.
• Assisting in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial transactions, contracts, and other legal arrangements including distribution, supply, and procurement transactions of energy efficient appliances and environmental commodities.
• Assisting in drafting, drawing up, and reviewing the regulations and regulatory climate of the Company and its affiliate entities to ensure compliance to statutory requirements in the relevant jurisdiction and company policies.
• Assisting in preparation of documentation required for incorporation of new entities in new markets including licensing and registration with the relevant competent authorities.
• Assisting in preparation brand migration advice, registration, protection and enforcement of the Company’s registered trademarks, design patents, copyrights, trade dress and assisting in developing and implementing innovative and strategic initiatives in relation to counterfeit, brand impersonation, trademark and copyright infringement claims.
• Following up on renewals or termination of agreements, licenses, certificates, permits of the Company and its affiliate entities.
• Proactively engage with external counsel on ongoing lawsuits, arbitrations and any litigation issues arising.
• Provide effective, strong and well researched legal advice to the business, finance or other teams, in a timely and efficient manner
• Assisting in due diligence on legal ownership of companies, debt and equity transactions with potential investors.
• Reviewing lease and tenancy agreements and ensuring proper execution and registration of the same.

Degree qualifications
