Job Description

Department: – Projects
Reporting to: – Projects Director
Location: – Optiven Headquarters
Gross Salary Range: – Kshs70,000 – Kshs100,000

Job Summary:
Optiven, a leading company in the Real Estate Industry seek to hire an experienced person to fill the position of a Land surveyor. The successful person will be measuring and mapping the shape of land, gather data for civil engineering and construction projects so that accurate site plans can be drawn.

Key duties and responsibilities:
• Conduct engineering, topographical and physical surveys of sites for preparation of site plans and topographical maps for direct construction costs and development purposes.
• Coordinate the development and review of policies, plans and strategies on surveying, GIS and mapping.
• Research previous survey evidence, including maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records, to obtain data needed for surveys and decision-making.
• Provide guidance on standardization, procurement, certification and usage of survey equipment.
• Interact with civil engineers, landscape architects, cartographers, urban planners etc. for proper execution of work assignments.
• Supervise and undertake quality control of outsourced survey services, monitor and evaluate the survey and mapping activities.
• Prepare departmental survey budgets, monitoring and evaluating budget control measures.
• Prepare and share relevant periodic reports with the line manager and senior management team whenever needed.
• Perform any other work as may be assigned by the management.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying and or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience.
• Valid Practicing License from Lands Surveyor’s Board (LSB) of Kenya
• Full membership with the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK) (Land Surveyors Chapter)
• Proficient in relevant Surveying software for cost estimation and management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
• Excellent reporting skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful.
• Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to company mission.
