Position: Driver II, KBI 11

Reporting: Senior Driver
About the Institute:
The Kenya BioVax Institute is a State Corporation tasked with the manufacturing, packaging and commercialization of specialized Health Products and Technologies (HPTs) that include vaccines, therapeutics and other biomedical products.
Job Purpose:
Provide safe and timely transportation of staff and equipment for the Institute’s effective service delivery.
Requirements:
1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade of D+ or its equivalent.
2. Valid driving license free from any current endorsements for any of the classes of vehicles which the officer is required to drive;
3. Passed Occupational Trade Test for Drivers Grade I from Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution;
4. Defensive Driving certificate from Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
5. Passed the Suitability Test for Drivers Grade I from Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution;
6. First-Aid Refresher Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution; and
7. Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police Service.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Drive the motor vehicle as authorized;
2. Carry out routine checks on the vehicles cooling oil, brake systems, tyre pressure etc.;
3. Detect malfunctioning of vehicles system;
4. maintain the work tickets for vehicles assigned;
5. Ensure security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road;
6. Oversee safety of the passengers and/or goods therein; and
7. Maintain cleanliness of the motor vehicle.
Terms of Service
The successful applicant will be appointed for five (5) year contract term and may be eligible for reappointment as per the Kenya BioVax Human Resource Policy and Procedures Manual.
