SENIOR NURSING OFFICER (PERIOPERATIVE CARE) JOB GROUP ‘CPSB 09’ - V/NO. KCPSB/1 1/2021/21 (I POSITION)
Terms of Service: 3-year contract
Remuneration: As per SRC guidelines
Requirements for Appointment
i. Have a minimum of a Higher Diploma in Perioperative nursing from a recognized institution
ii. Possession of a Bachelor's degree with extensive experience in perioperative nursing will be an added advantage
iii. Have experience of at least 6 years in nursing, 3 of which must be in operating theatre
iv. Training in nursing leadership and management added advantage
v. Have a valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya
vi. Be computer literate
vii. Excellent communication skills
Duties and Responsibilities
i. Preparation of surgical operating theatres for elective and emergency surgery
ii. Coordinate a multidisciplinary team to ensure daily theatre operations
iii. Ensure availability of commodities in the operating theatre
iv. Advice the Nursing officer I/C /Hospita1 Management Team on Perioperative nursing needs
v. Lead a team of nurses in provision of Perioperative nursing care
vi. Ensure preventive maintenance of equipment in collaboration with the biomedical engineer.
vii. Provide leadership to and from Surgical theatres
viii. Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control measures in the operating theatres
ix. Document and provide regular reports through HMIS of all surgical operations, adverse events and maintain professional and ethical standards
x. Participate in teaching and mentorship of nurses, students and multi-disciplinary teams.
xi. Examine trends elective patient admissions, in order to inform capacity planning and the appropriate provision of nurse staffing
