About the Institute:
The Government of Kenya has committed to build her own capacity for the production of medical commodities, including human vaccines, as a long-term measure to ensure Kenya becomes self-sufficient in its pharmaceutical needs, in line with the Big Four Agenda and Vision 2030.
The Kenya BioVax Institute is a private company owned by the Government of Kenya tasked with the manufacturing, packaging and commercialization of specialized Health Products and Technologies (HPTs) that include vaccines, therapeutics and other biomedical products.

The Opportunity:
The Board of Directors of The Kenya BioVax Institute is seeking to fill the position of The Director General / Chief Executive Officer (DG/CEO), to strategically lead the organization to execute this mandate in an accountable, effective, and results-oriented manner.

Responsibilities of the Candidate
The DO/CEO will be responsible for providing strategic, financial and operational leadership for The Kenya BioVax Institute and will work closely with the Board of Directors and senior leadership team to plan, develop, implement and execute the organization's vision.

Requirements for the role
This role requires a highly-skilled healthcare professional, a visionary with a strategic mindset, one who is detail-oriented, decisive, and has strong communication and influencing skills. The ideal candidate must have:
1 The ability to conceptualize and operationalize HPTs start-up projects to commercial success;
2. At least 12 years of demonstrable leadership experience in the field of medical/ pharmaceutical production manufacturing and marketing and innovation;
3. Demonstrable capabilities to ensure that The BioVax Institute is able to attain and maintain international accreditations including WHO/FDA and/other stringent regulatory authorities (SRA) for HPTs;
4. Ability to promote Research and Development of HPTs with a view to improving product appeal and acceptability;
5. Key skills and knowledge related to development of formulation and execution of technologies related to HPTs;
6. Knowledge related to molecular biology and microbiology, and demonstrable capabilities of scientific communication;
7. A track record in developing strategic partnerships and ability to mobilize targeted resources;
8. Ability to collaborate with stakeholders of different backgrounds, culture and diverse opinions, is inclusive;
9. Demonstrable professional business acumen, leadership and excellent organizational skills;
10. Proven negotiation, persuasion and influencing skills; and
11. Ability to successfully lead high performing teams in a multi-cultural fast paced and productive work environment.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of an advanced healthcare-related degree (relevant Masters and/or PhD) from a recognized university, and a recognized business and/or project management qualification/experience.
