Qualifications. (Education Skills and Experience)
1. Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (IT / ICT option).
2. 3 years’ experience as Librarian or its equivalent.
3. Must be a member of a relevant professional body.
4. Minimum of one article in a peer reviewed journal.
5. Must be Computer literate.
OR
1. Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science
(IT/ICT option).
2. 5 years’ experience as Systems Librarian or its equivalent.
3. Must be a member of a relevant professional body.
4. Minimum of one article in a peer reviewed journal.
5. Must be Computer Literate.

Duties and responsibilities
1. Designs, plans, implements and evaluates the present and future automation needs of the Library, making recommendations for implementation to the Library administration.
2. Management of E-resources, platforms and relevant software for access to e-content by students and staff.
3. Coordinate, Library wide training on use of automated systems, creating in house documentation as needed.
4. Manage the daily operations of the Library automated systems and workstations, remaining on call at all times.
5. Integration of the Library’s automation and communication systems, including the innovative interfaces system, LANs, Web server, Internet access, telecommunications and related evolving systems.
6. Design and maintain the library website as a marketing tool for library operations and services.
7. Develop and recommend policy and procedures for use of computers and computer systems.
8. Installs and configures computer hardware and software.
9. Oversees training and instruction of library users on computer services, related user software and evaluates performance.
10. Keeps current of all new technological procedures, processes and equipment in the Library.
11. Compiles, interprets usage statistics for e-content and prepare reports on the same.
12. Monitors all system functions and is responsible for proper operations.
13. Perform any other duty as assigned by the supervisor.
