Job Description

Superior Homes Kenya PLC is a real estate developer who takes pride in being the pioneer of the open-plan gated community concept in East Africa, which is now recognized as the future for sustainable living in East Africa. Developments under the Superior Homes brand include Greenpark Estate in Athi River, Pazuri at Vipingo and Lake Elementaita Mountain Lodge.
The Accountant will be responsible for the Accounting function of Superior Homes’ signature Sundowner Hotel. This includes, but is not limited to, preparation and maintenance of accurate financial records, Petty cash management accounts payable, accounts receivable as well as cashflow management, budgeting, cost rationalization, financial management, finance administration, daily revenues, coast reconciliation and stock management.

Responsibilities:
1. Ensuring financial transactions are properly recorded and entered into the computerized accounting systems.
2. Managing the Accounts Receivable function to ensure accurate and timely billing as well as collections.
3. Must have Knowledge on the sage System.
4. Continuous vouching of the entities Trial Balance to correct possible errors and to verify the General Ledger accounts balances at all time.
5. To maintain fixed assets registers and ensure that companies assets are not misused and that their existence is verifiable at all times.
6. Ensuring compliance with government and corporate policies laws and regulations.
7. Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and hotel procedures.
8. Undertake cash and bank reconciliations.
9. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts, cost centers and document business transactions.
10. Take responsibility for daily stock takes, spot checks, reconciliation and timely preparation of daily sales reports against expenses.
11. Responsible for verification of income, receivables & debtors’ reconciliation.
12. Preparation of financial statements and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position.
13. Analyze transactions, processes and identify areas where additional accuracies and efficiencies can be achieved.
14. Apply cost accounting methods to achieve efficient representation of cost center performance.
15. Reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
16. Responsible for filing of all statutory deductions.
17. Maintain system of accounts and keep records on all company transactions and assets.
18. Reconciliation of daily revenue against ERP generated reports.
19. Preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly management reports.

Requirements:
1. A bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with a preference for Second-Class Upper division.
2. A CPA-K holder.
3. MUST have a minimum of 2 - 3 years’ recent experience as a senior accountant in Hospitality Industry.
4. MUST have Proficiency in Sage accounting system
5. Proficiency in hotel operating systems, Microsoft Office and email applications
6. Must be candidate of unquestionable integrity
7. Should also be dynamic and a team player
8. Excellent analytical skills and hotel controls
9. Ability to work to tight deadlines in a pressurized environment
10. Team leader with excellent organizational skills
11. Candidate with Hotel Mango System experience will have an added advantage
