Job Requirements
i. Master’s degree in Animal Science, Apiculture, Livestock/Agricultural Economics, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Education and Extension, Agriculture or Animal Production, Range Management, Climate Change and Adaptation, Animal Breeding and Genetics, Animal Nutrition, Livestock Production Systems from a recognized institution.
ii. Be a registered member with the Animal Production Society of Kenya or an equivalent professional body
iii. Ten (10) years’ experience, three (3) years of which must be in a senior position within the Public Service.

Job Description
i. This position is responsible for overall coordination of Livestock Programmes including responsibilities of the Sector Working Group, overall extension service direction and Monitoring and Evaluation of ongoing projects within the County
ii. Coordinating the implementation of livestock programmes and policies in the County;
iii. Monitoring staff performance at the Sub-County level through progressive evaluation of activity implementation
iv. Compiling sector performance reports
v. Carrying out periodic Monitoring and Evaluation
vi. Implementing and promoting livestock production and general extension management;
vii. Implementing and coordinating animal production program and projects;
viii. Providing technical guidance on formulation, implementation monitoring of Livestock production policies;
ix. Providing technical advice to staff and stakeholders;
x. Collaborating with research centers and disseminating research findings;
xi. Participating in development of work plan and budget; and
xii. Participating in performance management system in the department.
xiii. Participating in development of public/private initiatives
xiv. Preparation of technical information in Animal Production
xv. Participating in technical workshops and seminars
xvi. Preparing the budget for the section.
xvii. Ensure adherence to budgets that have been approved.
xviii. Be an alternate Authority to Incur Expenditure (A.I.E) holder.
