POSITION: CULTURE OFFICER II JOB GROUP CPSB 09
Number of Posts: One (1) Post
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Basic Salary Scale: As provided for by the Salaries and Remunerations Commission

Duties and responsibilities
1. Ensure the county cultural policies and procedures are followed.
2. Advice on all issues relating to culture, music and art at the county level.
3. Monitor and evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of delivery of the cultural activities in
the county.
4. Coordinate the organization of local events/activities for communities and educational
tours at the county.
5. Organize county and external cultural exchange programmes for promotion of integration
and cohesion among the people of Kenya as well as engaging county cultural groups for
participation in regional and international exchange programmes Co-ordinate cultural
promotion projects/programmes and strategies as well as income generating cultural
activities in the county.
6. Document viable elements of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) for inscription and
safeguarding.
7. Facilitate capacity building workshops, exhibitions, symposia, seminars, concerts, and art
to promote cultural development in the county.
8. Promote Inter-Sub County and inter-ethnic cultural co-operation for mutual respect and
enrichment of the county's cultural identity and national unity.
9. Identify and vet cultural and entertainment groups for public functions to ensure they are
in compliance with the set standards.
10. Monitor and evaluate cultural programmes and prepare the necessary periodic reports for
management.
11. Ensure that all cultural facilities have the required facilities in terms of equipment Oversee
preparation of cultural groups participating during county, national and international
functions and events.

Requirements for Appointment
1. Bachelor Degree in any of the following disciplines; Cultural Studies, Anthropology,
Sociology, History, Archeology, Creative Arts, Theatre Arts, Music, Fine Arts, Kiswahili and
Literary studies, Indigenous languages or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
2. Computer literacy.
3. Knowledge of relevant legislation.
4. Knowledge of professional standards relevant to the area of work.
