ASSISTANT MANAGER, TECHNICAL SERVICES (GRADE 5) - JOB REF:
ICPAK/07/2023

Job Summary:
The Technical Services Assistant Manager shall report to the Technical Services Manager and
work closely with the Professional Standards Committee (PSC) and related Committees of ICPAK
to plan and implement the work plan of the Council. The Technical Services Assistant Manager is
responsible for research and analysis of International Standards in accounting, auditing and
assurance. He/She will be supporting ICPAK activities on technical matters with International
Accounting Standard Setting Boards (SSBs) in the areas of consultation processes, review of
discussion papers and exposure drafts that lead to International Standards.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Standards Development
Spearhead ICPAK’s participation in the development (Input to international standard setting
Boards (SSBs) of IASB, IAASB, IAESB, IESBA and IPSASB) by ensuring that ICPAK actively
and substantively contributes to relevant proposals, exposure drafts and discussion papers in a
timely manner.
2. Standards Implementation
Promote the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards, Auditing and
Assurance Standards, other accounting standard, guidelines, policies, laws and regulations
pertaining to the Financial Reporting and Auditing.
3. Monitoring and Compliance
Monitoring the regulatory environment in Kenya so as to identify and contribute to any Laws and
Regulations that may impact on financial reporting, management and auditing in Kenya.
4. External Relations
Maintain and coordinate relationships and partnerships with International Standard Setters as well
as with regional and local stakeholders that impact on the financial reporting and auditing in
Kenya.

Person Profile:
Academic Specifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or other relevant field
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or relevant postgraduate diploma
or certification qualifications will be an added advantage
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of ICPAK in good standing.
• Five (5) years continuous working experience with at least 4 years in a similar position
with exposure in professional accountancy practice or working in a professional
accountancy organization or a standard setter or public practice.
• Demonstrates in-depth technical knowledge and hands-on experience in the field of
auditing
• Demonstrate professional competence and knowledge of accounting, auditing and
education standards and practices
• Excellent knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, International
Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSASs) and Government Finance Statistics
(GFS), International Auditing Standards (IASs) and other professional standards
• Experience in the standards setting process
• An understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures
• Appropriate knowledge of the role of professional accountancy organizations.

• Must be able to demonstrate good planning, organizing and coordinating skills.
• Must be computer savvy.
• Strong experience in development of Board papers
• Ability to work effectively under multiple assignments and within set deadlines.
