Accounts Assistant (Job Ref: ZU/10/Adv/12/2023)
The purpose of this position is aimed at managing financial records, reviewing financial reports, monitoring accounts, preparing activity reports, forecasting finances, improve the institution’s financial performance, and analysing market opportunities

Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the position holder will be responsible for the following, amongst others:
• Ensure implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures.
• Efficient running of the finance department by ensuring accurate and up to date ledgers for the University
• Timely and accurate posting of supplier invoices in ERP system.
• Prepare monthly payment plan schedules and monitoring payments on a daily basis.
• Check and verify any expenditure before preparation of payment vouchers, cheques, and remittance of payments.
• Voucher posting of all payment vouchers from the bank statement on a daily basis
• Timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts and supplier balances.
• Ensure all statutory deductions are remitted within the stipulated timelines
• Processing and accounting of imprests and petty cash and posting in the system on a weekly basis.
• Ensure safekeeping of invoices, receipts and other accounting records.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliation and resolving any discrepancies.
• Prepare monthly management accounts in line with GAAPs and IAS
• Participate in the monthly stock-take exercise and reconciliations of variances.
• Any other duty assigned by your supervisor.

Qualification Requirements
• CPA part III
• At least 2 year’s relevant experience in a busy Finance office
• Proficiency in electronic accounting systems.
