Job Description

JOB TITLE: SENIOR ACCOUNTANT, JOB GRADE KFCB 5 – 1 POST
(Terms Of Service Are Permanent) – REF: KFCB/HR/7/2023

(a) Job Description
Duties and responsibilities will entail:
i. Formulating and implementing strategies and policies for procurement of goods
and services Processing payments;
ii. Monitoring revenue collection and expenditures based on approved budgets;
iii. Applying sound principles, systems and techniques in accounting for finances,
assets, revenue, expenditure and costs;
iv. Accounting for special funds, programmes and projects funds;
v. Verifying financial reports;
vi. Verifying bank reconciliation statements;
vii. Monitoring revenue collection and expenditures based on approved budgets;
viii. Authorizing payments and claims within set limits as approved;
ix. Ensuring Appropriation In Aid (A-in-A) reports are prepared on quarterly basis;
x. Managing accounts receivables and payables;
xi. Verifying and receipting of all monies due and payable to the Board;
xii. Analyzing and reporting on revenue collected to Management;
xiii. Ensuring Safe custody of Accountable Documents under his/her sections(s);
xiv. Ensuring final accounts are prepared within time frame provided by financial
legislations;
xv. Preparing the financial statements of the Board;
xvi. Undertaking financial risk assessments; and
xvii. Preparing quarterly financial management reports that fall under his/her section(s).

(b) Job Specification
For appointment to this grade, an officer must:-
i. Have five (5) years relevant work experience;
ii. Have Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Commerce
(Finance/Accounting Option),Economics, Business Administration/Management
or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
iii. Have Part III of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or equivalent
qualification from a recognized institution;
iv. Be proficient in computer application;
v. Have a undertaken a supervisory course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a
recognized institution;
vi. Have demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance; and
vii. Have fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
