Job Purpose
Responsible for overseeing the management and operations of the company, with the overall goal
of providing safe and reliable water and wastewater services to customers.
Managing Director and the senior managers shall be appointed on performance-based contracts
through a competitive process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
a) Strategic planning: Developing and implementing a long-term strategic plan for the utility that
aligns with national and regional development goals and ensures the sustainability of water
and wastewater services.
b) Operational management: Overseeing day-to-day operations of the utility, including water
treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, maintenance and repair of
infrastructure, and customer service.
c) Financial management: Ensuring the financial viability of the utility, including budgeting,
financial reporting, revenue collection, and cost management.
d) Regulatory compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies
related to water and wastewater services, including environmental and health regulations.
e) Stakeholder engagement: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders,
including customers, government officials, regulatory bodies, and other relevant organizations.
f) Human resources management: Recruiting, training, and managing staff to ensure they have
the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their duties effectively.
g) Technology and innovation: Keeping up-to-date with the latest technologies and innovations
in water and wastewater management, and implementing them where appropriate to improve
efficiency and service quality.
Required Qualifications
Have a degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Management or other relevant degree
from a recognized Institution.
A Master’s Degree in any related field from a recognized institution will be an added
advantage.
Have a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in a Water Service Provider with three (3)
in a senior management position.
Hold a professional qualification and membership in good standing to a professional body.
Be proficient in computer applications; and
Meets the requirements of leadership and integrity set out in Chapter Six of the
Constitution.
