Job Purpose: The Theatre Transplant Nurse role specializes in providing nursing care during organ
transplantation procedures. This role exists to ensure the safe and effective care of patients undergoing
transplant surgeries.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Prepare patients for transplantation surgeries.
• Assist surgical teams during organ transplant procedures.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and responses during surgery.
• Coordinate post-transplant care and recovery.
• Maintain sterile and safe surgical environments.
• Educate patients and families on transplant procedures and aftercare.
• Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Requirements
i. Higher Diploma in Peri-operative Nursing or its equivalent qualifications from a registered
institution.
ii. Diploma in any of the following disciplines; Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing,
Kenya Registered Nursing or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
iii. Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya
iv. Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya
v. Proficiency in computer applications.
vi. Fulfilled requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

• Surgical nursing expertise, including proficiency in assisting in transplant surgeries.
• Critical care skills to monitor patients during and after transplant procedures.
• Collaboration with surgical teams to ensure a safe and effective surgical environment.
• Patient and family education capabilities to provide guidance on post-transplant care.
