Job Description

Job Summary
The job holder will be expected to provide quality Obstetrics and Gynaecology services to both
outpatients and inpatients; and assist in ensuring smooth operations in the clinical department and
contribute positively to Tenwek Hospital strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities
a) Monitoring and providing appropriate medical and surgical care to patients.
b) Managing of clients for reproductive health both in the inpatient and outpatient.
c) Admitting patients requiring special care followed by investigations and treatment.
d) Carrying out specific procedures, e.g., performing operations and specialist investigations.
e) Overseeing clinical practice of clinical colleagues and ensuring high level of patient safety,
quality, and efficiency.
f) Adhering to Jacaranda clinical protocols and standards of care and supporting these practices
across the organization.
g) Actively participate in regular meetings to assess quality and safety.
h) Lead and/or assist with campaigns and projects for improvement.
i) Assist with developing standards, protocols, and procedures.
j) Provide clinical expertise and structured continuing medical education to staff.
k) Participate in clinical or operational meetings which require input of a consultant OB/GYN
staff.
l) Ensure the efficient use of resources in medical services.
m) Efficient use of diagnostic and pharmacy resources.
n) Must endeavour to provide medical services within budget, you will consult with the Director
of Medical Services and the Senior Management team regularly.
o) Continue to keep abreast with trends, developments and the appropriate utilization of
technology in the field of medical care on a regular and ongoing basis.
p) Participate in available educational sessions on topics such as clinical budgeting, medical audit,
performance appraisal and quality control.
q) Participate in journal review with clinical staff.
r) Study medical literature and other resource material on a regular basis.
s) Attendance at local post-graduate meetings/Continuous Medical education programmes as
expected.
t) Any other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements.
▪ Masters in Medicine (MMed) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from a recognized institution.
▪ Specialist Recognition by the Kenya Medical Practitioners' and Dentists' Board.
▪ Registered, licenced, and retained by the Kenya Medical Practitioners Board.
▪ Fellow of the College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of East, Central, Southern Africa (FCOGECSA)
▪ Ability to positively influence and nurture teamwork.
