Job Description
Requirements for Appointment
i. Have served in the grade of chief physical planner for a minimum period of three (3) years or cumulative working experience of at least six (6) years in the relevant field from the public or private sector.
ii. Have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Urban and Regional Planning, Town planning from a recognized institution
iii. Be a corporate member of the Kenya Institute of Planners or Architectural Association of Kenya (Town Planning Chapter)
iv. Is registered as a physical planner under the Physical Planners Registration Act, 1996, and is in good standing with the relevant professional body
v. Have a certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution
vi. Have a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution vii. Have demonstrated merit and shown ability as reflected in work performance and results
Duties and Responsibilities
i. Initiating, preparing, and monitoring the implementation of county and local physical and land use development plans
ii. Preparing action plans for specific projects such as residential housing schemes, shopping centers, industrial estates, and recreational facilities
iii. Providing advice to government and private agencies on development proposals and plans
iv. Implementing and providing feedback on physical and land use planning guidelines and standards v. Undertaking thematic regional studies on matters relating to physical and land use planning
vi. Managing physical planning data vii. Providing advice on development control
viii. Carrying out public education on physical and land use planning matters
ix. Preparing annual state of physical planning reports on county and local physical planning development plans
