Job Description

Job Purpose
Provides overall leadership, strategic management and day to day management of
Commercial Operations aimed at enhancing the Corporation’s profitability.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Initiating the development and implementation of the Corporation’s revenue
generation’s strategy through purchasing;
2. Initiating the development and implementation of the Corporation’s revenue
generation’s strategy through sales;
3. Initiating the development and implementation of the Corporation’s revenue
generation’s strategy through Key accounts management and customer relationship
development;
4. Spearheading Development and implementation of strategies for customer
relationships and service delivery;
5. Overseeing formulation of strategies for promotion of wholesale/retail business and
e-trade;
6. Responsible directly for performance of the department to ensure overall target is
achieved;
7. Establishing, improving and strengthening route to market operations for the formal
and informal sector;
8. Guiding the development and implementation of strategies for government
procurement agency services; .
9. Steering development of strategies to stabilize and influence consumer commodity
prices and supplies;
10. Creating partnerships and linkages to avail relevant products to the market;
11. Initiating development and implementation of strategies for import and export trade;
12. Coaching and mentoring staff in the department
13. Overseeing preparation of budget, annual work plans for the department;
14. Appraising the managers and office administrator and officers in the department
15. Guiding development of effective public relation strategies, brand visibility and
Corporate Social Responsibility programs to effectively communicate to stakeholders
and the general public.
16. Preparing and presenting the departmental periodic reports.

Recognized qualifications
1. Have a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: - Commerce or Business
Administration (Marketing option) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized
institution;
2. Have a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Strategic Management,
entrepreneurship or any other related field from a recognized institution ;
3. Have a minimum period twelve (12) years relevant work experience, five (5) of
which should have been at a managerial role;
4. Have work experience in commercial, sales or purchasing operations at senior role
in a large trading or Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) environment
5. Be a registered member of MSK, CIM or any other relevant professional body;
6. Have a certificate in Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a
recognized institution.
7. Be proficient in computer applications.
8. Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
