ENGINEER (CIVIL) (5 POSITIONS) JOB GROUP ‘K’-VACANCY NO. KSI/PSB/EA/15/2024

Requirements for Appointment:
i. Be a Kenyan citizen;
ii. Served in the grade of registered Engineer (Civil);
iii. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a
recognized institution;
iv. Been registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya;
v. Current valid annul Practicing license from the Engineer Registration Board of
Kenya;
vi. Corporate Member with the Institution of Engineers Registration Board of Kenya;
vii. Demonstrate competency in CAD (computer Aided design) use for design
preparations and interpretation
viii. Demonstrated administrative, professional and management competence in
work performance and results.
ix. Satisfies the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

The duties and responsibilities include: -
i. Undertake works in the fields of quality assurance, Axle Load Control, Planning,
design, construction, maintenance and structures.
ii. Prepare engineering analysis of urban road projects to include; feasibility
studies, detailed design, life cycle, cost and equipment selection.
iii. Perform all functions related to new project design/development, focusing on
emerging priority urban needs.
iv. Prepare and interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts and other visual aids.
v. Prepare construction specifications.
vi. Perform engineering duties surrounding the following; roads, public works, subdivisions, drainage, traffic tunnel, bridge, and environmental management
systems and prepare road works documents.
vii. Manage projects issues, budgets and programs
viii. Review and critique proposed changes to urban road engineering standards,
policies and details.
ix. Review projects, program performance in terms of achieving physical and
financial targets and attainment of projects/program target goals.
x. Review development plans for compliance with adopted road engineering
standards and best engineering practices.
xi. Prepare detailed scopes of work for technical assistance and training needs
for the department and explore various options for procurement of such
services.
xii. Meet with the general public and/or developers, landowners, and interest
groups concerning zoning, subdivision of projects, building projects, and
engineering regulations, standards, or policies.
xiii. Work with the Principal Engineer in coordinating the activities of the design
and construction teams.
