ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, RESEARCH AND QUALITY ASSURANCE (RESEARCH
INNOVATION & EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT RESOURCE CENTRE), KNEC
GRADE 4 (1 POST)

a) Job Specifications
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail:
(i) Liaising with consultants, resource persons and other stakeholders on education and
assessment matters;
(ii) Implementing performance management system in the division;
(iii) Coordinating research programmes in the division.
(iv) Identification, coordinating and managing the development of course content for
training;
(v) Identification, coordination and managing resource centre personnel;
(vi) Coordinating and managing educational assessment and training;
(vii) Develop department’s work plan and budget;
(viii) Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual divisional reports;
(ix) Overseeing the development and implementation of an effective staff performance
management system;
(x) Ensuring development and implementation of the training and development plan;
(xi) Managing human, financial and material resources assigned to the division.
(xii) Collaborate with process owners and user departments to ensure delivery of quality
goods and services;
(xiii) Promoting adherence to the Intellectual Property Rights policy.

b) Person Specification
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
(i) At least ten (10) years cumulative relevant work experience, four (4) of which should
have served at supervisory level;
(ii) Masters degree in any of the following disciplines: Education, Economics,
Mathematics, Statistics, Research or its equivalent qualification from a recognized
institution;
(iii) Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: Education, Economics,
Mathematics, Statistics, Planning, Project Management or its equivalent qualification
from a recognized institution;
(iv) Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized
institution;
(v) Proficiency in computer applications;
(vi) Demonstrated merit in work performance;
(vii) Membership to a professional body;
(viii) Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya only for the
successful applicants.
