PRINCIPAL RESEARCH & QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER, KNEC GRADE 5 (4
POSTS)

a) Job Specifications
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail:
(i) Initiating research studies and drafting research proposals on research problems related
to examinations/assessments;
(ii) Preparing the program and coordinate development of research instruments and tools;
(iii) Preparing the program and coordinate training of trainers for Research tudies;
(iv) Coordinating printing of the research data collection instruments;
(v) Coordinating training of data collectors;
(vi) Coordinating data entry, cleaning, analysis and report writing for research studies;
(vii) Disseminating research study findings;
(viii) Processing and verifying data requests;
(ix) Coordinating preparation of annual Departmental Performance Contracts;
(x) Reviewing the preparation of the annual performance contracts;
(xi) Developing and implementing departmental plans, policies, norms and procedures.
(xii) Promoting adherence to the Intellectual Property Rights policy.

(b) Person Specification For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
(i) At least eight (8) years cumulative relevant work experience, three (3) of which should
have served at supervisory level;
(ii) Masters degree in any of the following disciplines: Education, Economics, Mathematics,
Statistics, Research or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
(iii) Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: Education, Economics,
Mathematics, Statistics, Planning, Project Management or its equivalent qualification
from a recognized institution;
(iv) Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
Proficiency in computer applications;
(v) Demonstrated merit in work performance;
(vi) Membership to a professional body;
(vii) Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya only for the
successful applicants.
