Job Description

POSITION: GENDER BASED VIOLENCE OFFICER
LOCATION: MIGORI
REPORTS TO: DREAMS LEAD
PROGRAM: ENTRENCH

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

The Gender Based Violence (GBV) Officer will oversee the implementation of GBV intervention in the DREAMS program through providing overall coordination and technical assistance to the program staff to ensure that comprehensive GBV interventions are provided in supported facilities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Implement strategies to ensure early identification of GBV, linkage to minimum package of care.
• Provide coordinated technical support and oversight to staff and mentors to enhance capacity to provide comprehensive quality GBV services are offered in line with the national guidelines and address client needs.
• Coordinate the development and implementation of clear strategies to enhance the provision of comprehensive GBV services in the DREAMS program.
• Lead the development and dissemination of standard operating procedures to guide the day-to-day provision of quality GBV services.
• Support the scale up of first line response to GBV through scaling up (LIVES and LOVES) trainings.
• Strengthen capacity of staff enrolling AGYW into DREAMS with requisite skills that assure sensitivity questioning, privacy, and confidentiality.
• Support community response teams to ensure survivors of AGYW are supported appropriately and in time in the community.
• Coordinate leveraging of resources, linkages, and referrals for other essential services to ensure survivors of GBV receive comprehensive packages.
• Provide regular follow-up and supervisory support to ensure quality of GBV services in supported facilities and in the community.
• Review the routine monitoring and evaluation data from the program and make recommendations for program improvement.
• Represent the organization in relevant forums such as GBV TWG, workshops, meetings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:
• Degree in Clinical Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Community Development or Social Sciences or any related field
• Diploma in project management, monitoring and evaluation or development studies or related field is an added advantage
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience working with AGYWs
• Training in HIV prevention and other DREAMS-related trainings
• Trainer of Trainers in LIVES
• Strong interpersonal and coordination skills
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team leader and player
