Job Description

Job Title: Senior Statistician (Two positions)
Reference: HR/7/SS/2021/34
Job Grade: KP/5
Basic Salary Scale: KES 128,994 – 181,958 per month
Department: Knowledge Management
Supervisor: Deputy Director, Knowledge Management
Position Summary: To support the Institute’s knowledge management as
regards to data and statistics.

Key Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will entail: -
(i) Coordinating collection, collation, compilation, and analysis and dissemination
statistics;
(ii) Providing technical support to the departments on statistical issues;
(iii) Responding to requests from data users;
(iv) Managing, updating the Institutes data base;
(v) Monitoring the quality of KIPPRA survey data;
(vi) Advising on undertaking household and firm surveys;
(vii)Ensuring that the activities of KIPPRA are documented by preparing monthly,
quarterly and annual statistical reports;
(viii) Preparing market analysis data updates;
(ix) Computerizing and analyzing data;
(x) Assisting in the formulation of statistical policies;
(xi) Writing and submitting reports on specific assignments; and
(xii)Carrying out more specialized and complex statistical analysis.

Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
(i) Bachelor’s degree in economics and statistics or mathematics from a recognized
institution;
(ii) Master’s degree in statistics or related field from a recognized institution;
(iii) Three (3) years relevant experience;
(iv) Knowledge of advanced statistical software and application of statistical
methodology to complex data;
(v) Presentation of information in a variety of formats an added advantage;
(vi) Supervisory skills course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized
institution; and
(vii)Fulfil the requirement of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution.
