Job Grade: BMA 8
Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 42,500 – Kshs. 80,000 p.m.
House allowance: Kshs. 10,000
Commuter allowance: Kshs. 12,000
Leave allowance: Kshs. 4,000
Terms of service: Permanent and Pensionable
Reporting to: Senior Workshop Instructor (Workshop)
Job Specification:
The Coxswain will work within the schools; aiding Trainers in training activities by navigating training
vessels.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail assisting in: -
i. Ensuring crew and boat safety
ii. Identifying and addressing technical faults
iii. Executing drills as directed by the trainer
iv. General maintenance of the vessel and auxiliary equipment
v. Ensure the boat is properly equipped with mandatory and serviced firefighting equipment,
lifesaving appliances and personal protective clothing’s
vi. Maintaining records and databases
Person Specification:
For appointment to this grade a Candidate must have the following:
i. Minimum KCSE C- (C Minus)
ii. Coxswain I Certificate issued in accordance with the Merchant Shipping Act and its
Regulations.
iii. Proficiency in computer applications will be an added advantage
iv. Fulfill chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya
Successful candidates will be required to submit valid compliance certificates from Kenya Revenue
Authority, Ethics and Anti- Corruption, a registered Credit Reference Bureau, Higher Education Loans
Board and a certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations before
commencement of the employment contract.
