Job Summary
Based in Nairobi, Kenya, the Department of Population Health entails a highly-skilled multi-disciplinary team with expertise in medical, public health, social, demography, statistical and policy sciences with a vision to contribute to the health of populations, particularly those most in need, by using a population health science approach.

Responsibilities
The Public Health/ Environmental Health faculty will take responsibility for teaching of Population Health, Environmental Health and Community Health courses at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. S/he will provide related content and methods support to research projects conducted by the Department of Population Heath and, by extension, to the entire fraternity of the Medical College faculty and students. S/he will also write and lead research grant proposals and oversee their implementation. The individual will expected to be on track towards developing an academic career in applied aspects of population and public health sciences. As an academic member of the Department of Population Health, the incumbent will:
• Teach Population/ Public Health and Community Health courses to students in the Medical College.
• Provide Population/ Public Health, Environmental Health and Community Health courses research methodology and content advisory services for students’ and residents’ dissertation projects and specific faculty projects.
• Develop and/or continuously update and take responsibility for Population/ Public Health, Environmental Health and Community Health course components of the various undergraduate and post-graduate curricula.
• Contribute core expertise in Population/ Public Health, Environmental Health and community Health for research projects within the Department of Population Health.
• Lead specific research projects or components and contribute Population/ Public Health, Environmental Health and Community Health course data analysis, interpretation, publication and presentation.
• Develop and maintain Population/ Public Health data quality assessment protocols and continuously monitor and advise research projects on data quality issues.

Requirements
• A PhD in Population/ Public/ Global/ International Health (All with a focus on Environmental Health), Environmental Health or any closely related field.
• BA and /or MSc in any of the above or closely related fields.
• Demonstrated Population/Public Health, Environmental Health and/or Community Health research experience.
• Research experience as a lead researcher and/or key member of a research team.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency with one or more qualitative or quantitative analyses software.
• Experience in teaching and supervising under and post-graduate learners in relevant fields.
• Experience in developing and/or contributing to curriculum development in relevant fields.
• Should be published in peer reviewed publications and have experience in implementation of research grants.
• Experience in programme management will be an added advantage.
