Job Description

Upstream Petroleum Officer (Exploration) (6 Positions) - Job Grade 6 (Permanent And Pensionable) REF : 21 / 8 / 2023

Qualifications
1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or equivalent qualification from a recognized university;
2. Membership in good standing of a relevant professional body, where applicable; and
3. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Responsibilities
Geology
Operations
1. Investigate the structure and evolution of the earth and its natural resources;
2. Plan programs for exploration of sites;
3. Survey and map/identify geologically promising sites;
4. Analyze geological data using specialist computer applications;
5. Ascertain extraction risks;
6. Advise management, technical and engineering staff on development of petroleum reserves; and
7. Ensure receipt, review & processing of applications for non-exclusive Exploration permits, drilling permits, production permits, field decommissioning permits and any other consent under
the law relating to petroleum.

Geophysics Operations
1. Participate hands-on in project activity to gain familiarity with geologic and geophysical objectives as well as risks for clients;
2. Foster technical solutions to enhance project execution efficiency and ensure effective team participation;
3. Perform quality control, monitoring, and interpreting geophysical data;
4. Update client on technical matters and help manage expectations; and
5. Support Field Engineers in recommending ways to acquire the best data set.

Geochemistry Operations
1. Plan scientific studies, visit field locations, and collect samples;
2. Analyze and interpret the age, nature and components of rock, soil and other samples;
3. Conduct sample tests and checks;
4. Generate geochemical models, and map/identify specific areas for research and analysis;
5. Provide geochemistry support for well operations; and
6. Assist in the development of exploration and production strategy.
