Driver - Job Grade: BAC 10 – one (1) Post

Job Specification
This will be the entry and training grade for the driver cadre. An officer at this level
will work under the supervision and guidance of a senior officer. Duties and
responsibilities will entail: -
i. carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling and oil systems, electrical
system, tyre pressure, brakes;
ii. detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems;
iii. maintenance of work tickets for the assigned vehicles;
iv. driving the vehicle as authorized;
v. security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road;
vi. safety of the passengers and/or goods therein; and
vii. Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.
Person Specification
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
i. a minimum mean grade D (plain) in KCSE or its equivalent;
ii. a valid driving license free from any endorsements and valid for all the classes
of vehicles, which the candidate is required to drive;
iii. knowledge of the traffic act and related regulations;
iv. passed the Suitability Test for Drivers Grade III from the Ministry of Public
Works;
v. at least two (2) years previous satisfactory driving experience after obtaining
the driving license;
vi. a valid one (1) week first Aid Certificate from Kenya Red Cross, Kenya
College of Highway and Building Technology or St. John’s Ambulance; and
vii. certificate in Computer application;
vii. fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution
Terms of Service
The post will be offered on Permanent and Pensionable Terms.
Basic Salary Scale for the Advertised Post.
Ksh. 32,160 x 1,620 – 33,780 x 1,680 – 35,460 x 1,740 – 37,200 x 1,800 – 39,000 x 1,860 –
40,860 x 1,920 – 42,780 pm
