Job Description

SUPERINTENDING QUANTITY SURVEYOR (1 POSITION) JOB GROUP ‘M’-VACANCY NO.
KSI/PSB/EA/13/2024

Requirements for Appointment:
i. Bachelor’s degree in Building Economics/Quantity Surveying or its equivalent and
relevant qualifications from a recognized institution;
ii. Be Registered with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors
of Kenya as Quantity Surveyor;
iii. Corporate Membership of the Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK) or
Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK);
iv. Attended a Senior Management Course (SMC) lasting not less than four (4) weeks
from a recognized Institution
v. Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and administrative
capability required for effective planning, direction, control and coordination of
quantity surveying function;
vi. Proficiency in computer application skills.
vii. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
viii. Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution of Kenya.

The duties and responsibilities include: -
i. Evaluation and reporting on contractual claims from contractors, checking
valuations for payments to contractors, resolution of disputes on cases requiring
litigation or arbitration;
ii. Responsible for cost information services, control and implementation of
tendering and procuring procedures for construction projects, preparation of
cost hand books, handling correspondence, reports and papers on policy
matters.
iii. Coordination, checking and recommending for approval of tender documents
including Bill of Quantities prepared by Quantity Surveyors in the section to ensure
professional standards and accuracy;
iv. Preparation of cost estimates, Bill of Quantities, monthly valuation on site, site remeasurements, preparation of variation orders and final accounts involving the
implementation of development projects for various Departments;
v. Preparation of variation orders and final accounts involving the implementation

vi. Supervise the Quantity Surveying services in the County and will be responsible
for the administration and supervision of all staff working under him/her;
vii. Coordination of design, supervision of construction and maintenance of public
buildings, civil and other public works;
viii. Responsible for research activities;
ix. Supervise the quantity surveying services in the County and will be responsible for

x. Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and
documents related to surveyors.
xi. Write descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases or other
legal documents
