Job Description

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT, KNEC GRADE 4 (1 POST)
a) Job Specifications
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail:
(i) Compiling the annual Corporate procurement and asset disposal plans;
(ii) Implementing the annual procurement and disposal plans and preparing quarterly
implementation status reports;
(iii) Coordinating procurement and disposal activities;
(iv) Preparing contract documents for goods, works and services;
(v) Liaising with the user department to ensure effective implementation of contracts for
goods, works and services;
(vi) Providing secretariat services to committees incidental to the procurement of goods
and services, and disposal of assets;
(vii) Overseeing periodic and annual stocktaking exercises;
(viii) Coordinating disposal of assets activities;
(ix) Preparing statutory reports to PPRA, EACC, National Treasury.

b) Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
(i) At least ten (10) years cumulative relevant work experience four (4) of which should
have served at management level;
(ii) Masters Degree in Procurement and Logistics Management, Commerce, Business
Administration (Supplies Management Option) or equivalent qualification from a
recognized institution;
(iii) Bachelors Degree in Procurement and Logistics Management, Commerce, Business
Administration (Supplies Management Option) or equivalent qualification from a
recognized institution; OR Bachelors degree plus a Post Graduate Diploma in
Supplies Management/Logistics and Procurement Management from a recognized
institution;
(iv) Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized
institution;
(v) Member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) of good
(vi) standing;
(vii) Demonstrated merit in work performance;
(viii) Proficiency in computer application;
(ix) Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution only for the successful
applicants.
