Job Description

POSITION: BIOMEDICAL OFFICER
LOCATION: MIGORI
REPORTS TO: DREAMS LEAD
PROGRAM: ENTRENCH


OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
The Biomedical Officer will coordinate the provision of biomedical interventions including HIV testing services, contraceptive method mix, post rape care management, pre and post exposure prophylaxis to the adolescent girls and young women accessing DREAMS services. The Biomedical Officer will achieve this though working with the ward/facility in-charges and field officers. The Biomedical Officer will report to the DREAMS Lead.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinate the screening and provision of ALL required biomedical interventions including HIV testing services, contraceptive method mix, Post Rape Care management, PEP and PrEP in the DREAMS clinics.
• Support and track referral completion for male sexual partners linked for required biomedical services including VMMC and HTS.
• Lead the development of standard operating procedures and strategies to guide the provision of biomedical interventions in the facilities.
• Build the knowledge and capacity of wards staff and mentors on HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and other HIV prevention interventions through mentorship, training, and facility level continuous medical education.
• Coordinate the sensitization of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in facilities and the community on available biomedical interventions.
• Conduct site-level support supervision and mentorship to ensure biomedical service interventions are being implemented per intervention SOPs and in a quality manner.
• Support access to comprehensive HIV care and treatment for AGYW who sero-convert while in the DREAMS Program.
• Enhance proper documentation and reporting of biomedical intervention provided in the supported facilities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, CHMTs, SCHMTs facility in charges to plan for and implement DREAMS programs through joint planning, data review meetings and regular performance review meetings.
• Ensure availability of commodities including rapid test kit, antiretrovirals, family planning commodities for seamless provision of biomedical interventions.
• Documentation of best practices, challenges, and success stories.
• Prepare and submit regular program reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annually as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:
• Degree in clinical medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Community Development, or any related field
• Diploma in project management, monitoring and evaluation or development studies or related field is an added advantage
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience working with AGYWs
• Training in HIV prevention and other related trainings
• Skills on youth friendly services and experience coordinating DREAMS
• Trainer of Trainers in LIVES
• Strong interpersonal and coordination skills
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure as a team leader and player
