POSITION: REGISTERED NURSE – RENAL NURSE JOB GROUP CPSB 08
Number of Posts: Two (2) Posts
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Basic Salary Scale: As provided for by the Salaries and Remunerations Commission
Requirements For Appointment
1. Be a Kenyan citizen;
2. Have a Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenyan Registered Nursing /Midwifery or Kenya Registered Nursing/ Mental Health and Psychiatry from a recognized institution;
3. Be in possession of a Higher Diploma in the Renal Nursing;
4. Have a registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;
5. Have a valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya;
6. Have certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution; and,
7. Should be of good physical and mental health.
Duties And Responsibilities
1. Provide dialysis nursing care to patients with kidney problems;
2. Perform dialysis to filter toxins and waste products from the blood;
3. Perform hemodialysis to patients as ordered by nephrologists;
4. Perform peritoneal dialysis on patients in resident settings;
5. Maintain and manage dialysis machines, systems and equipment;
6. Monitor and assess vital signs of dialysis patients;
7. Instruct and counsel patients & their families on dialysis nursing care issues;
8. Monitor patient reaction to treatment interventions;
9. Administer medications as prescribed by nephrologists or physicians;
10.Ensure comfort to patients while executing dialysis nurse functions; and,
11.Making orders of all materials and drugs needed for the management of
patients, ensuring quality and adequate quantity at all times.
