Job Description

JOB TITLE: COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
NUMBER OF POST: ONE (1)
TERMS OF SERVICE: THREE (3) YEARS CONTRACT
REPORTING: CORPORATE AFFAIRS MANAGER

GENERAL PURPOSE

The candidate will be responsible for managing and implementing all
communications activities internal and external communication strategy related to
building relationships with the key stakeholders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. In liaison with management to develop and implement an effective
communications strategy based on Vision, Mission and our core values.
2. Manage all communications of the website, social and public relations
messages and collateral to consistently articulate and promote Tavevo Water
and Sewerage Company’s mission.
3. Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases,
website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that
communicates the organization's activities, products and/or services.
4. Manage Graphic Designs and Photographs to support production of internal
and external communications materials.
5. Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand, and coordinate
publicity events as required.
6. Responsible in the Development, implementation and evaluate the annual
communications plan across multiple target audiences.
7. Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and
leads to measurable action.
8. In Liaison with ICT Coordinate website maintenance ensure that new and
consistent information is posted regularly and is optimized for public and
stakeholders.
9. Prepare and submit periodic production reports, periodic updates and plans
to the management.
10.In liaison with the Corporate Affairs Manager, draft content for Managing
Directors’ Speech, public engagements and press releases.
11.Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for
the organization.
12.Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists, and maintain a
media database.
13.Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand, and coordinate
publicity events as required.
14.Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.
15.Proficiency in design and publishing software.
16.Manage conflict as it arises and escalate to management.
17.Any other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor from time to time.

QUALIFICATION
• Be a holder of Diploma holder in journalism, communication or related field
from a recognized institution.
• A degree will be an added advantage.
• Satisfactorily work experience performance for a period of five years.
• Proficiency in Computer skills.
• Knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign/photo shop)
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Good time management and interpersonal skills
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
• Proficient in Microsoft office, content management systems, and social media
platforms.
