Job Description

Overall Purpose of the Job
To manage, implement and coordinate the Accounting Function, Operations and objectives at the Commission and department levels.

Duties and Responsibilities: –
1. Maintaining proper financial records and daily posting of transactions into the accounting system Budget preparation, monitoring and control for both the Commission/Department as well as Donor budgets
2. Facilitate Commission Internal and External Audit process
3. M-pesa bulk payment management
4. Preparation of Commission/Departmental monthly management and annual financial reports.
5. Preparation of donor and project reports as per donor regulations
6. Follow-up on staff and diocese debtors
7. Recovery and payment of taxes under the commission
8. Preparation of cash flow projections on a quarterly basis
9. Maintain the Commission/Department fixed assets register
10. Review and process payment vouchers in accordance with the policies and procedures, and ensure that the same payments are posted to the accounting system.
11. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and M-pesa reconciliation statements.
12. Process staffs cash imprest, and review and verify the surrender documents for the same to ensure accuracy.
13. Prepare monthly financial journals and M-pesa surrender documents for all M-pesa payments.
14. Proper filing of payment vouchers, journals and all relevant accountable documents that track financial transactions.
15. Write cheques for all payment requests.
16. Maintain, follow up and reconcile both accounts receivables and payables.
17. Ensuring safe custody of cheque books, financial records and other accountable documents;
18. To ensure all functions and programs are performed within established budgetary parameters,
19. Ensure cost controls, monitor revenues and expenditures, and ensuring sound fiscal control;
20. To plan, manage, coordinate, and implement the year end closing processes and procedures
21. To evaluate receipts, expenditure forms, purchase orders, distributions, and disbursement orders for the purpose of ensuring compliance with policies
22. Compilation and consolidation of Commission/Departmental financial reports
23. Induct, guide and train and supervise the Assistant Accountant within the department
24. Backup of records
25. Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
1. Certified Public Accountant (K).
2. Registration with ICPAK and in good standing
3. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, finance or related course.
4. MBA will be an added advantage
5. A minimum period of three (5) years relevant work experience;
6. Experience in Project and donor accounting
7. Knowledge and experience with accounting software e.g. Pastel, Microsoft Dynamics 365.
8. Have a valid certificate of good conduct or proof of application.

Job Grade and Remuneration
The position will be placed at Job Grade 6 with an Entry Gross Salary of Ksh. 1,158,348 per year.
