Basic Salary Scale: As provided for by the Salaries and Remunerations Commission
Duties and Responsibilities
i. Develop the capacity of Board of Governors to provide effective management
ii. Coordinate and supervision of curriculum implementation
iii. Ensure appointment of BOG’s is in line with laid regulations
iv. To establish framework for trainees to be attached in industries to gain hands on skills
v. Initiate and monitor IGAS progress
vi. Initiate and coordinate co-curricular activities
vii. Ensuring County selection of youth polytechnics trainees
viii. Engineer development of youth polytechnic fee structure
ix. Collection, compiling and developing monthly reports
x. Create community mobilization, awareness and sensitization
xi. Appraise youth polytechnic managers
Requirement for appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
i. Served in the grade of Senior Youth Polytechnic Instructor for a minimum period of three
(3) years or its approved equivalent in public service
ii. Be a Kenyan citizen
iii. Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Computer Studies/Science; Information and
communication Technology; Electronics Engineering; Electrical Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Building and Construction; and
iv. Diploma in education or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
v. Supervisory Skills Course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution;
vi. Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution; and
vii. Demonstrated a high degree of administrative and professional competence
