Terms of Service: 3 – Year Contract
Duties and Responsibilities
An officer at this level will be on job training and will work under the guidance of a senior and more experienced officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:-
i) receiving, recording, packaging, dispatching, analyzing and preserving samples;
ii) preparing media, stains and dyes;
iii) maintaining biological cultures;
iv) caring for laboratory animals;
v) undertaking disease surveillance activities;
vi) performing vaccine, animal products and byproducts quality assurance tests;
vii) calibrating laboratory equipment;
viii) standardizing laboratory procedures and writing reports.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
I) Bachelors degree in any of the following fields:- Laboratory Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Analytical/Applied Chemistry, Applied Biology, Microbiology, Food Science and Technology in any of the following fields: (Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biology Civil Engineering, Civil) from a recognized institution; and
ii) Certificate in Computer application skills from a recognized institution.
