QUALIFICATIONS,REQUIREMENTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Requirements for Appointment: -
i. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B: Ch.B.) degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
ii. Successfully completed one (I) year Internship from a recognized institution; and
iii. Possess a current valid practicing certificate;
iv. Membership to a relevant professional body;
v. Be of good moral and professional standing;
vi. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and
vii. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities: -
i. Diagnose, care and treat disease;
ii. Perform medical and surgical procedures;
iii. Prepare and respond to emergencies and disasters;
iv. Participate in management of medicines, medical instruments and equipment;
v. Provide health education to the public;
vi. Maintain medical records, health information and data;
vii. Counsel patients and their relatives on diagnosis and bereavement;
viii. Teach and coach medical students, nursing students and clinical; officer interns;
ix. Prepare requisite documents for registration;
x. Attend to patients in clerking, diagnosis, management and follow ups; and
xi. Plan, monitor and evaluate performance of staff against the set targets.
